In 1994, I received a grant from the Do While Studio in Boston to be an artist-in-residence and completed this animation video a year or so later. It is called The Lost and the Living and is a memorial to my African ancestors lost to the sea during the middle passage in the slave trade. I programmed it in C on an Iris Machine in GL. (That's teckie speak for I coded it all by hand without any assisting animation program.) The converstion process (VHS-to-digital) darkened the video a bit — sorry.
