Recently the story Singularity Knocks by fellow Stonecoaster Will Ludwigsen was published on the podcast site Drabblecast. That reminded me that another story by another Stonecoaster was published on the site also. The story was The Second Conquest of Earth by L.J. Daly. Check them out and Enjoy!
This is the story of Hadrian and Antinous and a hint at what my first science fiction novel is about ...
Interesting words from one of my favorite authors
I went to this really wonderful event at The Center for Fiction. On the panel was Samuel R. Delany, Alaya Dawn Johnson, Andrea Hairston, Steve Berman, Carlos Hernandez and it was moderated by the great Ellen Kushner. Enjoy!
Well, it’s been a long time in coming, but it had to be done. I’ve finally put this blog front and center on my site and released it to the search engines. For a long time--actually from this blog’s inception--I blocked it from Google and the other search engines because this was a place just for me. This whole website has been a place where I’ve been figuring myself out. I began it a little after I closed my bookstore. It was around that time that I noticed that the store had absorbed my entire personality. I’m not sure how that happened, it just did. Every reference to me was through the store. I even began a blog “A Bookseller’s Tale” in an attempt to distinguish myself from the store and even that began to merge with my business. That was not what I wanted.
I had somehow disappeared and when the store went away there seemed to be nothing left of me in the world. I needed to fix that. I wanted to find me again. So I began this blog and this site. Lo and behold, there I was! I had forgotten how much of a serious artist I had been. I had forgotten about the places I had traveled to, the things I had accomplished ... In any case, I think I may have found me again.
This year has been a good one for me. A bit tough, but good. I finished my MFA in Creative Writing this year. More important than that, I finished my very first novel and it’s not bad if I say so myself. As of now, I’m about 20,000 words into my second book. I even got a literary agent to represent me. This has indeed been a big year for me. No wonder I’m exhausted.
So I guess I’m an author now. The road to get here has been long and strange. If you had told me that this was where I was going to end up when I was in my twenties, I’m sure I would have laughed. I still have a hard time believing that it’s happening. But here I am.
And this is now my official author site.
Enjoy!
