Craig Kee Strete is a Native American Science Fiction Writer. I found out about him through the back chatter in the Carl Brandon Group. (Info on the book can also be found here) His work is available in eBook form for FREE. It was only recently that I’ve had an eReader--I got one for Christmas. So yesterday, I downloaded the first book, a collection of Stories called The Bleeding Man (1977) only to discover that the forward was written by none other than the great Virginia Hamilton!
For me, this is the great promise of eReaders. They are able to resurrect older, harder-to-find titles and make them available again for little or no cost to the curious reader. I’ve just begun to read Strete’s work. I hope I like it. I’ll report back later after I’m done.
I went to this really wonderful event at The Center for Fiction. On the panel was Samuel R. Delany, Alaya Dawn Johnson, Andrea Hairston, Steve Berman, Carlos Hernandez and it was moderated by the great Ellen Kushner. Enjoy!
Add 1 to the win column for Free Speech!!
Ridley Scott directs it and it stars Idris Elba (Luther and The Wire), Noomi Rapace (of the Dragon Tattoo Films), Charlize Theron (Monster, Hancock), Guy Pearce (of everything awesome!)
... and I have faith that Idris will make it to see the end!!
It’s a strange thing with me, I usually shy away from scary movies. But every once in a while one of them captures my imagination and I can’t get enough. And so is my love affair with the movie “The Thing.” It also doesn’t hurt that the black guy survives to the end!! Enjoy this strange wonderful video with a soundtrack reminiscent of a really sick in the head Frank Sinatra song. And remember, don’t be too scared ‘cus he’s only a dog.
