Short Stories Are Coming Back to The Atlantic

The Atlantic will be publishing short stories regularly again! One of my major concerns over the years has been that short stories were missing from the mainstream magazines. There are a few like the New Yorker, but mostly Lit has been gone for a while. A lack of places were short stories are sold in higher circulation markets lessens the ability for newer writers to be seen and developed. And it’s the new writers that keep the literary field alive and exciting. Of course, it will still be extremely tough to get published, but hopefully, as more majors like The Atlantic come on board to publish shorts, there can be a breathe new life into in the mainstream of new writers. This is exciting news! [via BookFox]
