I'm a writer, an artist, a former bookstore owner, a former software engineer and web developer, and am currently on faculty at the Gotham Writers' Workshop. I am British-Jamaican American (born in London, England), and immigrated to the US when I was about four and grew up in Cambridge, MA. In my late 20s I moved to Brooklyn, NY and for three and a half years, I owned and operated the indie bookstore, Indigo Café & Books.

I have a MFA in Creative Writing from the Stonecoast MFA Program at the University of Southern Maine concentrating in Speculative Fiction and a Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Engineering (Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Visual Art) from Boston University.

My short stories can be found in The Future Fire, Lightspeed Magazine, Terraform, Uncanny Magazine, Morpheus Tales, APB: Artists against Police Brutality and other publications. Elysium, my debut novel, published by Aqueduct Press received the Philip K. Dick Award Special Citation, has been a finalist for the Locus Award for Best First Novel, and was placed on the Honor List for the Tiptree Award. Elysium has now also been translated into Italian by the publisher Zona 42. I'm currently finishing up my second novel Eleusis.

The Scribe Agency, LLC. represents my literary works.
